A life-long music lover, Audrey Carballo has been teaching music for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools for the past 24 years. Currently at Bob Graham Education Center, (a K-8 school), Audrey previously taught in Elementary, Middle and Exceptional Student classroom settings.
Audrey’s show choir, the Singing Bobcats, performs regularly in the community and will be seen at “Lights, Camera, Music!” at Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida.
Audrey earned her Bachelor's Degree (Voice Principal) in Fine Arts and Music Education and her Master's Degree in Music Education from Florida International University. Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities lists her as one of its finest. Some of her proudest accomplishments include being an assessor for the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards, facilitating a National Board session at the Florida Music Educators Association State Convention, founding and leading her Tri-M Chapter to be one of the largest active groups in Florida, and writing and implementing the curriculum for the Florida Future Educators program in Miami-Dade County Schools. Additional proud accomplishments are her 22-year marriage to her husband, Rick, and her two children, Katie and Ricky.
In addition to her academic involvements, Audrey has enjoyed a highly successful singing career spanning more than 30 years in and around the South Florida area. She has been the Alto soloist at a variety of churches and cathedrals in Miami and has been a soloist and conductor for many synagogues in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Palm Beach. During the evening hours, Audrey gives private voice and piano lessons and continues to delight in her student's achievements.
Audrey looks forward to making the Music Alive! Forum a great place to interact with fellow music educators!
